I think I’d seen about two or three horror films before I was totally over the whole genre. Stephen King still stands out and gets a free pass on that, but generally I don’t waste any time on it. So on the principle that you shouldn’t knock something until you try it, I really had to write a horror story myself.
Of course, I had to break the rules. My Sci-fi fans will recognise everything from String Theory and Quantum Physics to the Big Bang and the heat death of the universe, but that’s just decoration – a whistle-stop tour looking at these things from an unusual angle. The real story is a dramatisation of my own upbringing as a good Catholic boy and what was going on around me at the time. Just like Sean, I was oblivious to it all, but my own Omega Supreme saw me through it. Thanks sis’
